202203 Orientation Leader Application Form

Orientation Leaders welcome new students on their first day at FIC and help them transition to their new college environment. This means introducing them to the Canadian academic environment, important people and resources at FIC and each other! Building relationships and making students feel welcome is the central role of Orientation Leaders!

Important Dates:

Interviews will be held for selected candidates on Sunday, October 16th sometime between 9:00AM and 3:30PM PDT. Please DO NOT schedule anything else between those times.
Training days will be held the week before Orientation
Spring Orientation will be held on Friday, January 6th.
Orientation and transition events will be held the first 4 weeks of the semester (January 9th- February 3rd)

Time Commitment:
Orientation Leaders will support the transition of new students for 5 weeks at the beginning of the semester- approximately 25 volunteer hours total. This will include training sessions leading up to Orientation day, Live Orientation Day with helping host FIC Connects events and supporting with community events during Weeks of Welcome.

Students that hold Student Leadership positions within the FIC community have the ability to take advantage of the following privilege:

If you are a current FIC student who becomes a member of a Student Leadership Program, you will be given the first time slot for enrolment for Spring 2023 Semester. To be able to qualify for this you must attend the interview process, and if you are selected to become a member, must commit to supporting your Orientation Team for 5 weeks (including training sessions). If you are selected and do not attend training days and/or Orientation commitments then we will hold the right to remove you from the program. This will result in the removal of this privilege and you will be dropped from your classes. This is a privilege that must be earned and respected and the commitment is very serious.
